Peter Navarro Rocks RNC Stage Hours After Prison Release

(RightWing.org) – The main event of the 2024 Republican National Convention was the predictable confirmation of Donald Trump as the party’s presidential nominee, but it also marked an impressive comeback by one of the former president’s top aides. Peter Navarro, who served as a White House adviser to Trump, was one of the convention speakers and received a great response from the crowd. Remarkably, he spoke just hours after his release from prison.

During the Trump administration, Navarro, a former economics professor at the University of California, Irvine, became one of the president’s main economic advisers. He helped shape many of Trump’s trade policies and also worked to minimize the impact of the 2020 pandemic.

After the disputed 2020 presidential election, he fought to keep Trump in office. In March this year, he entered jail to complete a four-month sentence after refusing to testify to the House committee investigating the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot.

After Navarro’s release from prison on July 17, he headed straight to Milwaukee to attend the convention. That afternoon, he spoke at the RNC, where he received a warm welcome when he came on stage. The crowd chanted “Welcome home” as well as “fight” — the new GOP slogan that’s grown out of the failed July 13 assassination attempt against Trump — then listened as he discussed what’s happened to him.

Navarro told his audience, “If they can come for me, if they can come for Donald Trump, be careful. They will come for you.” He went on to accuse the Biden administration and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) of using lawfare against conservatives. He added that the January 6 Committee had tried to force him to betray Trump to save himself.

In addition to his own situation, Navarro discussed the challenges currently facing the US. He slammed the Biden administration’s failure to control illegal immigration and blasted the rise of woke ideology about gender and race. The crowd loved it, and Navarro’s conviction for contempt of Congress didn’t seem to matter at all to them.
