(RightWing.org) – The rise of social media has created some interesting situations as users seek new ways to make money from the phenomenon. A young, aspiring Instagram user recently entered the “find out” phase of his recent encounters with law enforcement officials when a Seattle judge took action to bar the man from using his Dodge Charger to make money online at the expense of residents.
On April 9, 20-year-old Miles Hudson pleaded guilty to misdemeanor reckless driver offenses. Judge Andrew Simons accepted his plea and barred him from driving his Dodge Charger Hellcat SRT for a year. The court also imposed other conditions on his release, such as not driving a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
Hudson’s lawyer, Sheley Anderson, questioned the judge’s decision to restrict her client from driving his Hellcat. She said the ban would prevent him from working. Hudson currently earns his living as an Instagram influencer. He posts photos and videos of himself operating his Charger for his 713K followers.
Ironically, Hudson’s Instagram turned out to be his undoing, at least regarding his driving privileges with the Hellcat. In mid-March, the Seattle City Attorney’s Office used a post from February 24 as evidence when it filed the reckless driving charges against him. The video attached to the post captured his Charger’s speedometer, showing him driving 107 miles per hour in a zone with a 25 mph speed limit.
Hudson has had multiple encounters with the police since he launched his Instagram account in late 2023. Local NBC affiliate KING-TV reported that police officers gave him a verbal warning in January after stopping him for reckless driving around 1:30 a.m. They also filed a report noting that they “could tell” he modified the vehicle’s exhaust system “to be exceedingly loud,” adding that they could hear Hudson’s engine “from blocks away” with the windows of the police cruiser rolled up.
Hudson faced up to a year in jail, a maximum fine of $5,000, and suspension of his driver’s license.
