Haley Issues Stark Warning to Trump After Debate

(RightWing.org) – President Biden’s car crash performance in last week’s presidential debate has boosted speculation the Democrats might somehow force him out before the election. Now, failed GOP candidate Nikki Haley has called for candidates to face cognitive tests — but warned that ousting Biden might not help GOP nominee Donald Trump. She said any new Democrat candidate would be “somebody younger” and hinted that could be a problem for Trump. However, none of the other Democrats who might run are even as popular as the floundering president.

On June 29, the Wall Street Journal interviewed Haley, the former South Carolina governor and US Ambassador to the United Nations. She discussed the idea of cognitive tests for all federal election candidates. When she launched her own presidential campaign last February Haley also called for congressional term limits and mandatory cognitive tests for all politicians aged over 75. She went back to that theme repeatedly through her campaign, and now she’s returned to it again.

Since President Biden blundered through the disastrous June 27 debate, the media has been full of speculation the Democrats will pressure him to step down. Given his condition, that’s obviously best for the country, and Haley agreed, calling it “shocking” and describing the president as “so amazingly unfit.” However, she argued that it might not be best for Trump. She told the WSJ that if the Dems replace Biden they’ll “bring somebody younger… vibrant… tested.”

That was an obvious dig at Trump; during the Republican presidential primary she claimed he’s also showing signs of mental decline, and at 78 he falls into the group of older politicians she wants to see doing cognitive tests.

Would a younger Democrat candidate be more of a threat to Trump’s election hopes than Biden, though? Possibly not. So far the most likely replacements are Vice President Kamala Harris and California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) — and both of them have even worse poll numbers than the president does.
