(RightWing.org) – Camera footage from Texas has caught a shocking scene. The surveillance camera caught an unidentified man abandoning a newborn baby on a walking trail. Police are now trying to find the perpetrator.
Just before 9 a.m. on June 15, a surveillance camera on Casa Martin Drive in West Harris County, Texas, picked up a man approaching a bridge that leads to the start of a local walking trail. The video shows the man, described as young and Hispanic or white, walking onto the bridge and placing a white bundle down on it before turning and running away.
Earlier that morning, Daniela Fedele and her husband, Luis Marin, had taken their family for a walk along the trail, setting out early to avoid the day’s heat. As they returned, they spotted the bundle lying on the trail –- and Fedele suddenly noticed it was moving. She said she couldn’t believe what she was seeing at first and thought, “Like, are my eyes really seeing a baby here?”
They were. Investigating the mysterious object, she discovered a newborn baby, with its umbilical cord still attached, wrapped in a towel. Then, giving the baby to Marin to hold, she called 911. Paramedics responded, taking the baby to hospital, and police started looking for clues as to how the child had got there. That’s when the security camera footage emerged.
Harris County Sheriff’s Office is now searching for the man who abandoned the baby and says anyone who knows who he might be should either report it to Crime Stoppers of Houston or call 713-222-TIPS (8477). According to Sgt Juan Garcia of the Sheriff’s Office, the baby still had a fresh placenta on its body, so it was born on the morning of June 15. The baby has now been released from the hospital and is with a foster family.
