(RightWing.org) – While campaigning in 2019, Joe Biden vowed to reverse years of progress regarding US immigration policy, and that’s precisely what he did. On his first day in office, he issued an executive order reversing former President Donald Trump’s emergency declaration at the southern border and canceling the construction of the wall separating the US and Mexico. Since then, border encounters have exploded, compelling Democrats to join GOP lawmakers to condemn the president’s actions.
On May 1, 13 Democratic House members joined their Republican counterparts to vote in favor of a resolution condemning Biden’s failed immigration and border policies. The measure passed 223 to 191, with all Republicans present in the chamber voting for it.
The passage of H.Res.1112 – Denouncing the Biden administration’s immigration policies comes at a great time for Republicans with the election looming six months away. The resolution shines a spotlight on Biden’s inability, or unwillingness, to protect law-abiding Americans and American cities from ravaging, lawless hoards of undocumented migrants.
H.Res.1112 presents a stunning indictment of Biden’s immigration and border security policies. The measure punches back at Biden’s first day in office, condemning him for “systematically [dismantling] effective border security measures and interior immigration enforcement.”
The resolution affirmed the Biden administration’s role in taking extraordinary “executive actions” that led to the “current border crisis.” Likewise, H.Res.1112 condemned the “public safety crisis” created by the administration’s sweeping “open borders policies.”
In a particularly strongly worded section, the resolution tore into Biden and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for creating the “worst border security crisis” in American history. Earlier this year, House Republicans successfully impeached Mayorkas for “breach of trust” and his “willful and systemic refusal to comply with the law.”
However, Democrats used their razor-thin majority in the Senate to dismiss the House’s Articles of Impeachment, successfully killing the measure without holding the customary Senate trial. Their actions deprived the American public of their right to receive some answers from Mayorkas regarding the Biden administration’s failures to secure the nation’s borders.
