Biden Aides Subpoenaed Over His Mental State

(RightWing.org) – Controversy continues to rage surrounding Joe Biden’s advanced age and apparent cognitive decline. In the wake of his botched performance during the first presidential debate, even Democrats are discussing his ability to serve a second term. Some are calling for him to drop out of the race and hand the torch to a younger politician. Amid this backdrop, House Republicans have subpoenaed several top White House aides to provide information regarding the president’s mental state.

On July 10, the House Oversight and Accountability Committee issued a press release detailing its decision to subpoena three top White House staffers to provide sworn depositions about Biden’s cognitive functioning. Those staffers include the following top advisors.

  1. Annie Tomasini: senior advisor and deputy chief of staff for Biden;
  2. Ashley Nicole Williams: deputy assistant to the president and senior advisor and director of strategic outreach for the White House;
  3. Anthony Bernal: senior advisor to First Lady Jill Biden.

Comer sent the subpoenas and a cover letter to White House counsel and assistant to the president Edward Siskel. The committee chair noted that officials in the White House, Senate, and House had “voiced concerns” over Biden’s ability to continue leading the country after his “disastrous debate performance in June.”

Comer explained that recent reporting had “revealed a White House in disarray.” Citing a July 5 article published by POLITICO, he advised Siskel that a former Biden aide recently claimed that Tomasini, Williams, and Bernal had created a “protective bubble” around the president to shield him from outside scrutiny. Comer added that the aide said White House staffers reported surrounding the president to the extent that he appears to have “lost all independence.”

Therefore, Comer explained, the committee was investigating the scope of those three aides’ White House duties and responsibilities. He also noted that all three appear to have “firsthand knowledge” regarding the level to which the president was “personally carrying out the duties of his office” and whether or not he is “capable of doing so.”

Comer concluded his letter by asking Siskel committee staffers to discuss the requested depositions by July 17.
