(RightWing.org) – On February 5, Buckingham Palace issued a press release announcing that doctors identified a form of cancer while conducting tests on King Charles III. The statement didn’t cite a particular focus of the disease but said that doctors had advised the monarch to postpone his public-facing duties while he received regular treatments. Recent news reports indicate that Camilla may make a significant appearance in King Charles’ place in early summer.
On April 1, The Sun published an article speculating that Camilla may attend upcoming ceremonies celebrating the 80th anniversary of the Allied Forces D-Day invasion in France if Charles isn’t feeling well enough to attend. The media company also noted that the king’s oncologists “may also advise against” his attendance at the event.
If the queen attends in the king’s stead, she will take center stage alongside dignitaries like French leader Emmanuel Macron and President Joe Biden. The Sun also hypothesized that Prince William might attend the June 6 ceremony at Omaha Beach, France. William served nearly eight years of active military service, flying 156 search and rescue missions as a Royal Air Force pilot.
Since Charle’s cancer diagnosis, Camilla has attended several significant public events alone. For instance, in February, she attended the 100th Anniversary Celebration of the Poppy Factory at Clarence House and met with members of the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre during a Shakespeare gala. In March, the queen visited Northern Ireland and the Isle of Man.
On a more positive note, the king recently made his first major public appearance since starting cancer treatments nearly two months ago. News reports showed images and videos of Charles shaking hands and greeting well-wishers after attending Easter Sunday services at St George’s Chapel in Windsor. The queen accompanied him as he mingled with the enthusiastic crowd.
