(RightWing.org) – Ghislaine Maxwell is currently in prison for her role in Jeffrey Epstein’s sexual offenses, but she’s determined to clear her name. Her attorney has just spoken up about some of her plans. More details are likely to come out at her appeal hearing later this month.
On February 28, the Daily Mail reported statements by Maxwell’s attorney, Arthur Aidalia. The lawyer said he’s discussed Epstein’s apparent suicide with his client, and she “definitely has a take” on what happened to her friend and former employer. The French-born socialite is serving 20 years in prison after being convicted of trafficking girls for Epstein to sexually abuse; as she’s 62 years old, it’s likely she’ll die behind bars unless she can successfully appeal.
Maxwell probably didn’t help her case when she failed to testify at her 2021 trial. Now Aidalia claims the reason for that is she was “hungry and sleep-deprived.” He alleges prison staff woke her up and strip-searched her multiple times a day while she was in pre-trial detention, leaving her exhausted. Aidalia told NewsNation host Chris Cuomo that Maxwell was deprived of food for days at a time, and claimed every American following the case should be “disgusted” at how she was treated.
He also claimed Maxwell’s treatment was worse than what Russia did to opposition leader Alexei Navalny. As Navalny died in suspicious circumstances in a Russian labor camp on February 16, this seems unlikely.
Through his interview with Cuomo, Adalia stuck to broad comments on Maxwell’s thoughts and plans. He said he didn’t want to harm her chances at her appeal hearing, scheduled for March 12, by revealing too much. However, he also hinted that he’d be willing to talk in more detail after that hearing, telling Cuomo “Maybe you’ll invite me back on the show after March 12.”
