Drone Footage Reveals Hamas Amid UN Workers

(RightWing.org) – In late January, The New York Times reviewed a dossier provided to US officials detailing Israeli accusations that several members of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) either played a role in the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack on Israel or colluded with them afterward. The following day, a UN spokesperson confirmed that the organization terminated those workers’ contracts. However, recent drone footage indicates the presence of Hamas among UN workers.

On May 14, the official account for Israel Defense Forces (IDF) posted a four-part statement on its X/Twitter page. The posts include a 49-second video, presumably taken by a drone, and five still images from that footage.

The video shows a group of armed civilians lingering around a white sedan with UN lettering on the hood, roof, and back hatch. A second white vehicle, which appears to be a small pickup or some other kind of truck, also has the letters displayed on the hood and roof. The back of the truck can’t be seen from the footage.

The Hebrew text accompanying the posts explains that troops from the 84th Givati Infantry Brigade (aka Highlands Brigade) spotted militants near those and other vehicles not bearing UN markings. The statement says the footage was shot at UNRWA’s central logistics compound east of Rafah.

Continuing, the posts explained that the site serves as a logistics warehouse for the UN, a “key distribution hub for aid throughout the region.”

In one segment on the left side of the footage, armed civilians can be observed firing their weapons. Toward the middle of the frame, two men can be seen dragging some sort of canvas or heavy cloth that appears to hold miscellaneous supplies. A plainclothed person can be seen accompanying them.

The statement advised that a unit of the Israeli Ministry of Defense that manages civilian policy throughout the Gaza Strip, shared the clip with unspecified “members of the international community. The Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories also contacted the UN directly and urged the organization to investigate the situation.

The IDF concluded its statement by vowing to “operate according to international law” to ensure that aid supplies get properly distributed to Gaza residents.
